The Cat May Be A Better Mother..

I'm sure as a parent you've all muttered the famous "Stop running in the house." Tonight, I said this several times to my four year old. So many times in fact that I stopped saying it. I just let it happen and thought to myself "He'll learn someday." Little did I know, the someday was in a few minutes. I hear earth shattering screams out of his bedroom and I think something is terribly wrong. (He has such a dramatic cry). He cries out "I fell, I fell." I brush it off as falling is a pretty regular thing in my house.. And lets face it, I warned him of the consequences. I didn't go run to comfort him, as I don't want whiny children who cry over spilt milk. He come running out with that awful cry and I saw blood. My first issue was to figure out where the blood come from. I set him down and see it's just a minor busted lip. I give him a wash cloth and help him clean his face. I did not comfort him, I sat in the other chair and explained to him that mom has a reason she tells you NOT to run in the house. This could of been avoided. That is when his cat Charlie decided to play #mother. She spent five minutes loving on Bentley. Rubbing up against him. Putting her paw on his head and just comforting him. She didn't leave his side until he stopped crying! She's such a protector of him and possibly a better #mom than me for comforting him when I see a lesson learned instead.
Bentley #survived with a minor cut on his lip. And with that, I survived another day. Even if the cat is better at comforting than me.
