Have you ever had those days where you want to run away? Not because your life is bad, but because you're over whelmed and under appreciated. Today was one of those for me. I'm writing this now so it's pretty clear I didn't run away... (Okay, I did but made it as far as the store) From the time the kids woke up at 6, I knew it would be one of those days. Two of four already crying at the top of their lungs for no reason. One demanding more pancakes while the other refusing to eat them. Constant fighting and constant reminding them of what the household rules are. If you have ever had a day like this, you know it means "Rules? What rules". I had a better word for it but kept it polite as this is a family blog.
Oh how I spent the morning wishing it were nap time. Lunch came around and my four year old was begging for another cheese and ketchup sandwich for the third time this week. The kid would be more than happy with this everyday, but the mother in me of course feels that it would be wrong to serve that nasty combination again. I played the guessing game before he agreed to settle on deep dish pizzas. I only made a handful as they tend to not each lately. Sure enough, Bentley's 2nd cup in he's making me aware that he better have a few more somewhere. That means mom is up to bat again and making more pizza. While those are being made, the pudding comes come out. (Everyone needs a pudding cup to balance out their lunch.) As you can probably guess it.. a mess for mom. While the pizzas are baking, mom takes five minutes to email her teacher. Perfect! Just enough time for Noah to throw their winter boots and wood pellets into the bathtub full of water in case we lost power.

Nap time comes. A lot of fussing later, two kids are down for the count. The other two act like they can't hear that it's nap time. Instead 2 hours of mom begging them to "Quiet down, your brothers are sleeping." "You're going to lay back down". Of course, we always play this game. Mom's been getting after them all day, she's tired of it. She'll give up.. and she does. For awhile. Shortly after the others wake up, they decide to take every single one of their brothers clothes off the hangers and toss them in the floor. This is as mom is folding laundry and cleaning up their mess for the 3rd time. Also going to fight with each other all afternoon about even a slight look in each others direction. Just to act like angels as daddy walks through the door.
Ya, one of those kind of days! I did run off to the store to get my bearings, but I couldn't wait to come back because I've learned to embrace the chaos.. My chaos <3
